PFUJ condemns unethical and immoral attack on women in Ummat

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned an immoral and unethical attack on women in Monday’s edition of daily Ummat and termed it against all journalism principles and ethics.

The paper referred to women participants of the Aurat March as ‘whores’ on its front page.

President PFUJ Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary-General Nasir Zaidi said that never in the history of Pakistani journalism had such words been used against any segment of society.

The union leaders said it seemed that the paper was being used to fulfill the agenda of extremist elements which do not want to see women folks contributing to society’s development.

They urged the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) to take immediate and appropriate action against the Ummat management.
